Alabama car insurance quotes expensive

Alabama is among the states with the least affordable car insurance in the country, according to a website that offers comparative data on insurance plans.

Insweb (NASDAQ: INSW) reached the conclusion by dividing median household car insurance rate by median household income.

In Alabama, the calculation came to 3.75 percent, ranking the state 38th.

The least affordable state for auto insurance was Louisiana, at 6.93 percent, followed by Oklahoma, Missouri, Washington, D.C. and New York.
